favourites of the moment and some boba fett lovin'.

i just felt like making a random post on things i am into now, because i can. yeehaw, we shall begin.
  • favourite dessert
oh my god, i just discovered the most amazing dessert ever. it's sweet and tasty and so delicious. i knew of its existence before but never found it anywhere until today (i found it at bijou).

i introduce to you, banoffee pie.

agh that looks delicious. now i'm hungry. dammit.
it consists mainly of banana, cream, and toffee and the base is this soft, melt-in-your-mouth biscuit base which is oh so tasty. when i took the first ever bite of banoffee pie i thought i had tasted love and happiness and fluffy clouds of greatness and joy. ahhh. *swoons over a cake*

amazingly enough, the first i had ever heard about this cake was from my everlasting love (lolzzz what a fangirl) benedict cumberbatch. he mentioned in an interview for harper's bazaar that he had a sweet tooth, and that banoffee pie was one of his guilty pleasures.

i totally do.
  • favourite style
i have totally changed my makeup style after i watched star trek into darkness. my favourite eye makeup that i wore everyday used to be this bold cat eyeliner style, which looks somewhat like this:

not as neat though, heh.
but now i totally dig this style of grungy, smudgy, dark eye makeup:

like this, minus the pretty
i say i changed it after star trek because empire magazine totally had john harisson (ahem you know who) on the cover where he's glaring rather ominously and his eyes are dark and it's totally mysterious and evil and it's honestly the cat's pyjamas. i love it. so naturally i wanted to look mysterious and evil and somewhat demented too, hence the change in style.

sexay evilness woah.
i can tell you though, this really fits in better with my current military slash dirty hobo fashion style because now people really look at me funny on the streets haha. a lot of random people have commented that i am 'ganas', which translates to, well, hardcore or grungy, something like that. (takkan nak cakap violent kot kan haha) i really like it though, it looks badass.

it is quite disturbing-slash-weird that my style hasn't changed yet though. gone are the days where i preferred to dress smart with my shirts and all, or the days when i thought maxi dresses were teh bomb. now i just rock my jeans and tees with my pick of blazers (i have many now) and my doc martens. i'd be sick of my own style if i didn't love it so much.

(isn't it weird though, how my fashion choices are very manly, yet i love makeup? i always find that so weird and funny.)
  • favourite character
i'm watching star wars the empire strikes back right now, and hot damn, boba fett is awesome. i don't know why i think so, but from the first time i saw his character i thought to myself, "this guy is chill. i shall now adore him." (i don't even know what that means, but hey, that's life)

his helmet. HIS HELMET. it's the bees knees.
yea i think it's the helmet. it looks so worn out and mysterious. ooh. he's a bounty hunter by the way, how cool is that? and he's all like, "he's no good to me dead." you go fett, you go.
  • favourite bromance
i must have this category, because my life is all about teh bromance. i am 500% more likely to love movies that have bromance elements than normal boring frienship ones. seriously, bromances are so funny and cute.

ahem, anyways, my ultimate all time bromance is of course, sherlock holmes and john watson (or benny and martin). but for this moment though, i am totes loving the bromance between bradley james and colin morgan from merlin. and that's so weird cos i don't even watch merlin! i just randomly saw a clip of them on youtube and thought they were adorable.

here's said clip:

"take me to glasgow." lolzzzzzz, i died. so much fun.
  • favourite stranger
my favourite stranger for now is a person called cry (or cryaotic), who has the youtube channel chaoticmonki. he's a gamer and frequently plays with pewdiepie and other awesome people. nobody on the interweb knows what he looks like, and he has got an awesome voice and a really cool batman voice. he sounds like a great guy, very funny, and i love listening to him read creepypasta stories cos he makes 'em sound scarier. all in all, very cool guy.

  • favourite song
er...it's you're the voice by john farnham...obviously because of the colin/bradley video. it's a really good song though, very nice power ballad haha.

aaaand that's it from me! i like posting these things because i can read it back a few years from now and totally think to myself, "what was i thinking?" lol. so blogging's like a nicer version of a diary cos i don't have to physically write stuff down (it gets tiring) and i can attach stuff. yay blogging!

oh benny, i adore you with the force of a thousand burning planets.

guess who went to watch star trek into darkness yesterday?
(clue: it wasn't brad pitt)

me! it was me! i finally decided that i've had enough of waiting (patience has never been a strong suit of mine) and went to watch it by myself.

haha well actually i just didn't want to wait. too excited! even as i was purchasing the ticket for myself i was positively shivering with anxious excitement and happiness, i was having heart palpitations while i was watching the movie, i kid you not.

the verdict?

i loved it! it was jam packed with action, exploding spaceships, aliens and benedict cumberbatch close ups. everything a girl could ever want in a movie. actually just the last one would do well enough on its own.

i'm not gonna write the storyline out for you, because part of what made this movie so interesting was the fact that i didn't know much about it from watching the trailers. i knew that kirk and spock and the rest of the crew were on board the enterprise, i knew that the villain they're looking for is john harrison who threatens to blow up stuff and kill people.

i think the storyline was well-written and it was interesting and there were plot twists (gasp!) and the characters showed a lot of emotions and spock and kirk's bromance was an awww!-worthy moment haha. i also love simon pegg who plays scotty, he's a laugh as always.

(that made me think. what about making a movie about zombie aliens from outer space huh? shaun of the dead meets star trek? huh? huh?)

but the best bit? well, of course. of course it's benedict cumberbatch. i feel like his name should be in large, bold happy colours. wait here: benedict cumberbatch. (yay!) i mean, i kind of think he was heavily promoted in this film, no doubt as an attraction for ladies to go watch the movie (ahem) and he was amazing in it. i won't give spoilers of course, but he turned out to be quite different from who i expected him to be.

these closeups killed me. i squealed whenever i saw his face. (malu)
and i might be biased because i love like the man, but his level of acting was top notch. it was like...well, his face was kind of impassive but for a flicker of raw emotions on his face from time to time. but somehow, and i don't know how, the emotions really show. it's the sort of methodical slow burning anger of someone who is pissed off but is trying to control his emotions, a scheming man. he's a wronged man, in his eyes at least.

even windswept benny looks fabulous.
i'm reading a few raves on the interweb about this movie. a lot of people are saying that it's way better than the first movie in 2009 in terms of plotlines, character development and whatnot. i actually really liked the first movie but i do agree that this one's a whole lot more developed with the plot and all. i also kind of don't like eric bana purely because i think he sucked in his portrayal of the incredible hulk lol. for a n00b in the star trek franchise, i personally like this movie and i am going to watch it again.

all in all, i'm pretty sure i won't object to watching it again with a few friends and finally being able to fangirl as opposed to keeping it all in. the movie's 132 minutes long if i remember correctly from googling it earlier, so i'm bound to have missed some details right? teehee.

i can finally cross off star trek into darkness from my to watch list! now i have the hobbit 2, world war z, and basically anything benedict cumberbatch is involved with to watch. is it just me or are there no great movies out now (except for iron man 3 and star trek i mean)? sigh.

we call it living.

i require a date to go watch star trek with me.
because the friends who usually watch movies with me are in jb
and i can't wait because benny is in star trek and i just can't.

i can't.

i think i'm gonna have a nervous breakdown.

having said that, i just hauled a butt-load of makeup this month. yay me for being broke.

but here's benny, so it's all good.

oh hay benny. fancy seeing you here.
plus, because of a random episode of revenge (thank you eyeballs) i had an insane urge to acquire a red blazer and so i did just that.

this is the blazer i finally got from mango. pretteh!
ooooh merahnya.
be warned though, wearing such a bold red is very attention grabbing. i have had people openly stare at me as i walked past them. i suppose it's like a slap to the face? but hey i'm fabulous so what can i do?

ok not really.

so, what i am doing nowadays other than waste my life away on shit i don't need and pretending that my masters degree is gonna do itself? i am:

  • interviewing poor unsuspecting folks for my masters. woohoo big surprise.
  • playing call of duty black ops 2. the graphics are higher now so the game on my laptop looks crappy and that makes me sad.
  • done with far cry 3! yay! good game, very good voice acting involved and it's open world so anything goes. i must say though, i hate the whole checkpoint save system because unless i am on a mission i can't save my game, so if i die cos i got eaten by a shark when i am exploring my progress isn't saved. grr. but i love love love the voice acting. vaas montenegro (who will forever be a cooler villain than hoyt could ever be) and sam becker are my favourite characters.

that's vaas. and this is sam.

i gasped when he died. not cool man. (oops spoiler! haha yeah i'm an ass)

meh..yeah i think that's all i'm doing as of now. i can't think haha.

creepiest thing in the world.

cockroaches = no. just...no.

i think cockroaches are one of the foulest things ever, alongside dust mites and child rapists. they're fast, and cunning, and they can fit into any crack or crevice in the house, making them absolutely terrifying. i have the highest of loathings towards cockroaches, especially ones who are full ass grown and flying around like superman around my room.

my cat though, can i just say something about wally for a minute? god, he is like the worst. hunter. EVER. though he is to be applauded for spotting the dastardly creature in the first place, he is absolutely rubbish at chasing it. in fact he asked me for help in reaching the cockroach. as if i'd touch the critter, yech.

he continuously prods his paw at the boxes in my room, even though i was screaming at him that the cockroach had run towards the door, TOWARDS ME. see, i could kill the foul beast. but then wally would be bored. so here's what happened:

me: wally! there it is! go after it man!
wally: meoooow! *where is it?*
me: whaddya mean where is it? weren't you chasing him a few seconds ago under the bed?
wally: meeeow? *ya but i let it go. have you seen it? have you?*
me: GOD WALLY YOU ARE SUCH A CRAP HUNTER! *picks up j.r.r tolkien's book the children of hurin which is still nicely wrapped in its plastic sleeve thingy and waves it around* I'LL KILL IT MYSELF!

true story. i literally felt like my heart had stopped beating. because the thing was huge! full grown sized brown icy looking cockroach with its tentacles all a-quiverin' and freaking the heck out of me. i'd seriously rather be stabbed in the chest with a fork than have a cockroach in my room.

i managed to kill the tiny demon by introducing tolkien to its face several times. i wonder where it had come from. i literally shiver when i think about it.

i remember this one time when i was in my home in kelantan, i was about to fall asleep in my room by myself. it was dark because i had turned off the lights. i was nearly asleep when i heard something. a rustle of something in the room. instantly my spidey senses tingled and i jumped out of bed to turn on the lights.

lo and behold, a cockroach. vile thing was on the wall of my room. i spent nearly 2 fucking hours trying to kill it. agh, it just creeps me out.

so there you have it. the thing that creeps me out the most, i should think. i've dedicated a whole post for it to show just how much it bugs me. and i don't even know why cockroaches scare me. i don't like their tiny weird legs. i don't like that they're brown. i don't like that they can fly. eeeee i'm shuddering. can't even google up pictures for 'em. brrr.

makeup hauling for the win!

"just because it burns doesn't mean you're gonna die"

hey y'all. how's it goin'? it's been a while since i posted anything new because life has been boring as heck yo. all i'm doing right now is procrastinating on work i should be doing (my research) while doing work that i shouldn't be. (like eating. and shopping. and playing skyrim for 12 hours straight. it ain't healthy.)

speaking of shopping, i sort of maybe kind of definitely made a promise to upload these pictures of a haul i did last week from a spree on facebook. i keep my promises, even if they're about a week late hehe.

these are the things that i bought!

benny the t-rex fainted upon seeing my stuff. cos it's just that awesome.
let's see. i got three maybelline color tattoo 24 hour eyeshadows. i got me some monistat chafing relief powder gel, nyx eyeshadow in golden orange, and finally i got the aveeno eczema therapy moisturising cream. that rm20 cash voucher for shu uemura was a gift from the seller. sho shweet. *blushes*

i'm gonna go a step further now and review these items, just because i can. and because i'm still holding off on doing my actual very important work. (sigh)

  • maybelline color tattoo 24 hour eyeshadows
god these things have long ass names. i mean, by calling them color tattoos i would assume that they'd last a long time right? and i've heard claims that they don't really even last 24 hours anyways so why you people at maybelline be lying about it?

....anyways. i got three colours: fierce and tangy, bad to the bronze, and bold gold. i love these things. i love cream eyeshadows in general, i've been trying to collect mac paint pots because those are gorgeous but expensive. these are cheaper, and just as good! i wish they brought these into malaysia. it makes no sense to exclude the asian market from a product that sells. hmm.

from left to right : bad to the bronze, bold gold and fierce and tangy.
from left to right: bold gold, fierce and tangy, and bad to the bronze.
the consistency of these things vary. bold gold is kind of glittery, fierce and tangy is matte and a bit tougher to pick up, and bad to the bronze has the bestest, creamiest consistency. but all of them work for me, so i'm not complaining.

i usually use cream eyeshadows by themselves as a wash of colour on the lids. if i'm feeling rajin (read: if i'm not late) i'll add a powder eyeshadow on top then eyeliner. voila, a crazy mess! haha. these last for a long time on me, maybe 8 hours? if you're wearing your makeup for 24 hours you should probably re-evaluate your life decisions, cos that ain't healthy as well yo.

you might ask, anis, why did you get an orange cream eyeshadow? well, why not? it's just how i roll.

  • monistat chafing relief powder gel
don't be alarmed, i'm not using this to protect my bits from chafing...well, at least not yet. you never know what might happen. a bear might chase me while i was walking home from my local 7 eleven one day and cause chafing in crazy parts of my body due to all the running around to escape from said bear. so...yeah.

i read that this thing works well as a face primer. it does all that jazz that expensive primers do, it mattifies the skin and absorbs excess oil, it makes the makeup go on smoother, it also helps in case of a bear attack. what more could a girl ask for?

it's for intimate care. ooh i'm such a bad ass lolz.
i must say this works well for me. my face feels like a baby's butt when i apply this. it's really smooth and silky and the smoothness kind of sticks to the hand but that's not really a problem. i haven't worn it on a full day out in the sun though, so i dunno. it works just as well as my old primer from youngblood which cost me like, a lot. i don't remember how much. haha.
  • nyx eyeshadow in golden orange
i forgot to take a close up of this one. meh, too lazy now, so i'll just google it for y'all.

pic taken from beautyandbaggage.blogspot.com
this is said to be a great dupe for nars taj mahal blush. looking at the pics they really do look similar. very pretty. a light hand is necessary because this is pigmented. but don't be scared of orange blushes because they suit asian skintones really well. it kind of lights up the face, making you face look a bit healthier and tanned (in a good way) and brighter, somehow. fuyoo, haha.

if anyone wants to try out an orange blush for the first time this is a really good and cheap choice. ohhh, and this eyeshadow also has sort of like a golden sheen to it. i compared it with my sleek aruba blush (a matte bright orange) and it looked yellower. try it!
  • aveeno eczema therapy moisturising cream
national eczema association accepted yo!
this isn't a makeup product obvs, but it is necessary to me. i was diagnosed (lol dramatik gila) with eczema  sometime last year and god, it's a pain in the ass la. my face is red and flaky and really itchy. i used to have combination oily skin but somehow the eczema made my skin really dry and the stuff i used kind of like, disappeared into my skin, never to see the light of day again. weird huh?

but meh, it's all better now due to my mom's persistence, a lot of medication and lots of praying. thank god for that! cos i was depressed at that time, it was sooooooo itchy!

sad. so so sad. aww cute kitty cat. not so sad.
aaaanyways, i use this moisturiser all over my body after my eczema cream, and as a face moisturiser as well. works really well for my face, it's actually quite light. my face was riddled with small acne because the products i used before that healed my skin is kind of too rich for my face now. my face is getting oilier now, never thought i'd ever be grateful for that.

this moisturiser works well at moisturising, and it doesn't irritate. it also somewhat helps in reducing my itchiness all over the body, but i use other creams at the same time so i can't really testify to that. it's also cheap! cetaphil's expensive.

ok the end.

OH! in case anyone is wondering, i bought all this on facebook from retail paradise. she's got a lottttt of stuff. i kid you not! she has nars, urban decay, milani, the balm, nyx, etc. and most importantly, she is very nice and friendly. we all need friendly makeup sellers to fuel our addictions. well, i do. and i now feel like buying moar stuff. noooooooo....
